HELP, can this cause Toxic Shock Syndrome?

I'm on the pill to control endometriosis, and I often get breakthrough bleeding. It's a pretty light flow, mostly a dark brown discharge which sometimes is bright red, so it doesn't warrant the use of a tampon. Unfortunately, I didn't have any pads on hand, so what I did was rolled up toilet tissue into a cylinder, then stuck that cylinder in between the lips of my . I didn't actually stick it inside my , I basically put it lengthwise in between my labia with it lightly touching the entrance to my , so it could stop any bleeding without actually being inside me. I had it like that for about six hours, because I was very busy and didn't get a chance to use the bathroom. I then gradually developed a headache. When I changed it, there was not very much discharge on the toilet tissue. I'm just wondering if this kind of behavior can lead to TSS if I leave it in place for too long. And also what usually happens when I remove the toilet tissue is it will rip and some will stick to the area inside my labia. I pick the pieces off as well as I can and I clean the area if it's possible, but sometimes I'll masturbate after that and I'm afraid that I may sometimes push bits of the toilet tissue that I missed into my . Could this cause TSS? My mom bought me some pads today, so I won't be doing that anymore. Somebody please help.
