How do I change VLC/MP3 music files to WMA? I don't know why they changed. Help.?

Yeah basically, someone downloaded a programme onto my computer, and it changed all of my music files onto that so they don't open in WMA, but into the other one. I want them in WMA. Can you explain how I change it back please? (Try and be simple too, computer lingo confuses me hahah)
