This question might seem racist but I'm here to learn so here goes....?
Why is it that SOME black people seem determined to be a victim? Yes, I realize slavery existed and it was a horrible, horrible crime against humanity. But how long exactly are other people who had nothing to do with it going to be punished? In my mind, slaves were extremely courageous people because they braved harsh conditions and beatings to have the chance at freedom. They stuck together and somehow maintained their dignity in the face of horrendous treatment. If I were black, I would be incredibly proud to come from such dignified people with such strength. Black civil rights pioneers fought for freedom and worked so hard to gain access to equal education, equal rights, etc. I realize we still don't live in an equal world. But the opportunities today are obviously much better than 100 years ago. To me, it is a blatant slap in the face to black ancestors before you who survived the beatings, who survived the enslavement, who survived the humiliation of having separate
